NOW Home| Next Post » Brush fire in northeast San Diego County burns 1,800 acresAugust 11, 2012 | 5:26pm A brush fire in northeast San Diego County which started Thursday by a lightning strike has burned 1,800 acres and is 40% contained, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection announced Saturday afternoon.
Full containment of the so-called Chihuahua fire is expected Monday, the agency said. The evacuation order for the residents of several hundred homes near Warner Springs is expected to be lifted within hours.
Two firefighters have suffered minor injuries. Nearly 800 firefighters have battled the blaze, along with six air-tankers and 12 water-dropping helicopters. No structures have been reported damaged.
